About
Us
We are a group of program providers who have come together because we
share common goals:
1. To improve
the skill and commitment to parenting among parent and primary care
givers of children aged 0 to 5 years.
2. To enhance the nutritional knowledge and practices
of parents and primary caregivers of children, those not yet born to
5 years of age.
3.
To increase opportunities for and accessibility of adult literacy and
family literacy, particularly for those families with children under
6 years of age.
4. To use methods
by which individuals, institutions, and parents develop a voice, a sense
of efficacy, and a commitment to the continuous improvement of the community
in which children spend the critical first five years.
The
Web of Best Practices
We have called our programs "The
Web of Best Practices."
Our programs are intended to be dynamic, in that objectives of each are
complementary to and supportive of the others, therefore, a "web"
of practices. The overall effect will be to contribute in a unique way
to the development of a healthy child through a process that requires
commitment and collaboration-building blocks of capacity and sustainability.
The Web of Best Practices programs
are intended to begin to address the patterns of need that have been
identified in a survey completed by parents, workers, and individuals
who have an interest in early childhood development. Some programs target
needs directly, while others facilitate participation, and yet others
are projects that may result in program design or redesign in the future.
